Section 126 - Wrongful committal or confinement by public officer.

Whoever, being a public officer authorised by law to commit persons' for trial or to confinement or to keep persons in confinement, commits a person for trial or to confinement or keeps a person in confinement-

(a) knowing that he is acting contrary to law; and a

(b) knowing that he is likely to cause injury to a person or intending unlawfully to give a person an advantage, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years or with fine or with both.
